Our first visit to Mexico, not the elegance or luxury we expected, we’ve stayed in nicer, cheaper more luxurious places closer to home then here, very disappointed, we won’t be going back. Towels on the floors in corridors to absorb water leaks. There was shouting & banging on doors one night with a chap demanding to be let in the room even though he didn’t know the young lady occupant. Two chaps were squaring up to each other in the entrance to the foyer after a night of drinking. The doors in the standard rooms have really dirty hinges and chunks of wood are missing from the skirting boards.Ī young lady resident who’d been drinking all day was throwing up at the poolside,

The whole of the Yucatán hotel is in desperate need of a paintwork restoration, inside and out.Ī animal called an Agouti, resembles a giant rat wanders around the grounds, pool areas, beach and walks through the foyer daily, all day, urinating and poohing where it pleases.Ī section of the ceiling in our room 2108 collapsed due to a air con leak causing us to be moved into a privileged room for the last night of our stay, that room had no hot running water in the shower or sink. The wooden fencing on the walkway to the rooms on all floors is rotting & dangerous and there is tape on say “precaution” but no work is taking place to rectify it. I can’t remember the last time I saw a shower or bath & sink taps this old in any hotel I’ve stayed before.

$700 usd to upgrade to a privileged room, you only ask this question because the standard rooms you are put in are so dated.įully inclusive at £2700 for ten nights and there’s no tea or coffee making facilities and only water in the fridge.Īll the bars close at 23:00hr hours except for the disco which opens at 23:00-02:00, not everyone over a certain age want to go a disco but might like to carry on drinking and chatting after 23:00 in a quiet bar. The hotel is kept spotless clean even though the Yucatán part is very dated. The Steakhouse and Italian restaurants are a must visit while you’re there. A beachfront location, thatched-roof rooms, and acres of greenery the Catalonia Yucatan Beach offers a true taste of the tropics.

The food although repetitive is very good. All the Staff are lovely and hardworking. About Catalonia Riviera Maya & Yucatan Beach Resort This hotel is located in the wonderful Puerto Aventuras area of the Riviera Maya.
